Diiusional Phase Transitions in Multicomponent Systems with a Concentration Dependent Mobility Matrix
نویسنده
چکیده
A model for phase separation in multicomponent systems is studied. In particular the possibility of a concentration dependence of the mobility matrix is taken into account. This leads to a system of fourth order degenerate parabolic partial diierential equations. We derive these equations from balance laws, show some properties of the model and prove a global existence result for the degenerate system.

On the Cahn{hilliard Equation with Degenerate Mobility
An existence result for the Cahn{Hilliard equation with a concentration dependent diiusional mobility is presented. In particular the mobility is allowed to vanish when the scaled concentration takes the values 1 and it is shown that the solution is bounded by 1 in magnitude. Finally applications of our method to other degenerate fourth order parabolic equations are discussed.
متن کاملMulticomponent dynamical systems: SRB measures and phase transitions
We discuss a notion of phase transitions in multicomponent systems and clarify relations between deterministic chaotic and stochastic models of this type of systems. Connections between various definitions of SRB measures are considered as well.
متن کاملStructure formation, phase transitions and drag interactions in multicomponent su- perconductors and superfluids
Superconductivity and superfluidity are some of the most fundamental and important phenomena of modern physics. However, much theoretical work for such systems so far has been restricted to the onecomponent case. For multicomponent systems, the spectrum of possible topological defects, their structure formation and associated phase transitions, can all be much richer than in the one-component c...
متن کاملEntropy-driven phase transitions with influence of the field-dependent diffusion coefficient
We present a comprehensive study of the phase transitions in the single-field reaction-diffusion stochastic systems with field-dependent mobility of a power-low form and the internal fluctuations. Using variational principles and mean-field theory it was shown that the noise can sustain spatial patterns and leads to disordering phase transitions. We have shown that the phase transitions can be ...
متن کاملPhase Transitions in Multicomponent Systems
Consider a system with n components (different types of molecules) with r phases in equilibrium. The state of each phase is defined by P, T and then (n− 1) concentration variables in each phase. The phase equilibrium at given P, T is defined by the equality of n chemical potentials between the r phases. Thus there are n(r − 1) constraints on (n− 1)r + 2 variables. This gives the Gibbs phase rul...
